DEAR ONE

Itā€™s a pleasure to meet you.

Toward the end of an 11-year career in banking, in the late 1980s, Cora first began to study yoga with an ā€œaccidentalā€ apprenticeship with Erich Schiffmann and Rodney Yee.

A native of Hong Kong, educated in Europe and the U.S., she attended the University of Chicago and University of San Francisco. Working in fashion retail and design before joining U.S. Bank, Cora managed corporate travel and purchasing for Fortune 100 companies throughout the late 80s and 90s. Since 1999, she has written and lectured about yoga at international conferences, hospitals, integrative medicine, and complementary wellness and retreat centers.

Cora is dedicated to the practice of yoga and wellness for health, believing strongly in its transformational and healing powers. It is the integration of physical movement and yogas intention and focus that creates a holistic model of care, helping us through pain to live a healthy and pain-free life.

With a background in classical Chinese philosophy, Cora views the body as a microcosm of our environment, and seasonal health is the interaction between the environs, our own internal organs and emotions. She love the deep connections between Eastern and Western ideas and concepts, and is constantly researching to expand and understand these teachings in the lens of yoga.

Please join Cora to explore practice as an expression of joyful life-force.

My History

A Reputation Built Over Time

Cora apprenticed with Erich Schiffmann and assisted Rodney Yee for 9 and 7 years, respectively. This all happened because she was looking for respite from a crazy stressful banking career managing Lockheed Martin and NestlƩ Corporation, and mending a broken heart.

Beginning in the 1990ā€™s. she assisted and traveled with Judith Hanson Lasater 18 years, and mentored with Patricia Walden over 20 years. Cora has also studied extensively with Manouso Manos, Ramanand Patel, Angela Farmer and the Sanskrit scholars Kofi Busia and Edwin Bryant.

In 2001, she created Yoga Bloom as a Yoga Alliance registered educational program as a way to share the healing practices of yoga and traditional Eastern modalities.

Yoga Bloom Training has an extensive curriculum based on Coraā€™s years of experience working with people suffering from various chronic and acute conditions, including arthritis and joint injuries, multiple sclerosis and Parkinsonā€™s Disease. Cora has also worked as a wellness aide and advisor to students suffering from longterm psychological trauma, depression, anxiety, PTSD, eating disorders and addiction.

Cora has worked to create International Wellness Retreats since 2002, developing the first Yoga Experience for Aman. She developed groundbreaking Yoga programs for Mandarin Oriental Hotels, Uma COMO and Azerai Resorts.

Currently, she is working on developing programs for Heckfield Place in the United Kingdom. Over the past 18 years, Cora has organized private yoga and cultural tours for up to 25 people throughout India, the Kingdom of Bhutan, Cambodia, Canada, Costa Rica, Croatia, Italy, Laos, Java, Mexico, Thailand, Vietnam and the Himalayas.

Experience

A Teacher First.

Cora Wen has built her reputation as an internationally respected yoga practitioner and teacher. Classes are an environment to expand, explore and challenge your body, mind and spirit.

We often ā€œwind it upā€ in yoga with strong poses to challenge our strength and flexibility. But do we balance all this strength with equal amounts of stillness? It is equally important to ā€œwind it downā€ to balance our body, mind and spirit in a calm and compassionate place.

Approaching classes with a lighthearted approach, Cora guides precise and mindful movement. Anatomy is a guide to use biomechanics and the physics of the natural world, while working on the asanas. The use of the support of walls, doors, yoga props, and furniture welcomes a wide variety of students who might not find yoga as a healing practice.

Cora is committed to the belief that fitness and healing are byproducts of yoga, and using less sweat and asking for more stamina, provided a deep and long lasting sense of relief and comfort. Yoga helps us create balance in body, mind and spirit. Ease and flexibility in body and mind, and the strength and stamina to ease thru life.
